music . . .
wrenchingly touching . . . dazzlingly exciting . . .

I've always been drawn to songs that tell stories—songs that reveal something about who we are, how we see ourselves, and the sometimes surprising ways we respond to life's challenges. I'm fascinated by the contradictions in human nature: our ambitions and insecurities, our capacity for love and regret, the stories we tell ourselves, and the choices we make. Whether I'm writing a poignant ballad, a comic character song, or something darker and more psychologically complex, I want the music and lyrics to work together to reveal something that words alone cannot express.
My musical influences range from Broadway and classical music to jazz, rock, and pop, and I enjoy drawing on all of them. I particularly love writing songs that give performers something to do; an emotion to explore, a character to inhabit, a story to tell, or an unexpected laugh to deliver. Above all, I want to create songs that connect with audiences while giving singers the opportunity to make each song their own.
